WAMP - Hungarian Design Market 20th May 2007 10 am - 6 pm venue: Erzsébet square (former bus station)
Since April WAMP is organised on Erzsébet square, which is a perfect outdoor location. Not only is it in the centre of Budapest and on the pathway of popular tourist sites such as the Basilica and Vaci street, but it is also located in the middle of a beautiful park. The outdoor market is popular both among artists and visitors; more than 110 artists will be present to sell their new spring collection of design goods and some 5000 visitors are expected. It also gives us the opportunity to organise extra events with special themes to add something extra to the usual market atmosphere.
The main theme of the May WAMP is Street Art. Street art is a new art trend not only in Hungary but all around the world. The objective of street art is to reshape the image of a city by art. WAMP has invited street art performances, working artists to perform on the venue. The Lát-kép group will present its telephone transformer project and an artist will decorate telephone transformers on the spot. The urban art gallery will present a selection of street art artists and will sell street art merchandise.
The award celebration of the children’s Earth Day drawing competition on the last WAMP is at 11 o'clock. Votes for the best drawing can still be sent via our webpage.
Angel performances and a creative corner will make the day attractive also for children.
next WAMP is June 24th at same venue
