Design brand of the month in February – Suck Right!

Starting from 2009 WAMP introduces a designer every month who we consider unique or outstanding at the design market. The aim is also to introduce the person behind the design objects. Viktória Csepleő, debuted at WAMP in November, has enhanced with her gonzo looking and labeling - Alice In Wonderland, Black And White Nightmare – unique shoes and accessories.

Christmas WAMPtriple

WAMP appears three times in December in Gödör Club on 6th, 13th and 20th December. WAMP is the perfect place to find Christmas presents for your beloved ones. On the Christmas fairs more than 170 Hungarian designers and artists will be present to showcase their wide range of products such as jewelry, textiles, shoes, design objects, ceramics, glassware, children’s toys and games, and culinary design products. Hopefully everyone will find his perfect gifts.

Designer of the month in November: István Esztány

In November István Esztány became the designer of month with his bags inspired by folk dance. He debuted on October’s WAMP, and he has instantly awarded for Finlandia prize.

WAMPLITUDE - Vision frames at WAMP

WAMP moves inside from November on to Gödör Klub to welcome everyone on gloomy November and December Sundays. The unique atmosphere of the design market lies in the secret of offering very diverse innovative, modern local design from around 100 designers, while it also gives the opportunity to meet the designers themselves. Those interested in music and animation will be specially treated in November, as WAMP will come forward with animation of Sofita, as well as chill out music from dj Keyser.

WAMP Finn Fatale at Design Week

October is the month when design events are the most intense in the year, so it is at WAMP. Extending its regular activity of the monthly design fair, WAMP comes forward with a large scale special Finnish festival within the framework of the Design Week in October. A Finnish design exhibition, Finnish Hungarian design fair, special Pecha Kucha Night and party are organized. The star designer Harri Koskinen is also in Budapest for the event to give a lecture on his work.

Harri Koskinen’s lecture at Design Week

Harri Koskinen is one of the best-known Finnish designers in the world these days. Along the years, he has won several awards. Harri Koskinen’s lecture will take place at 11 am on 9th October 2009 at MOME (Academy of Design and Applied Arts). The lecture promises to get and insight to one of the best-known Finnish designers’ work of these days. He has been working for companies like Artek, Finlandia Vodka, Iittala or a Marimekko, just to mention a few names.

Re-interpreting Nature Finnish design exhibition

The Finnish design exhibition studies how Finnish design of the 2000s addresses interpretations of nature. It presents the ways in which designers perceive the ever-changing world around them. The dialogue of design and nature is changing. Do the themes of design, art and architecture still reflect the colours, patterns, rhythms and textures of the northern forests? The exhibition features one-off works of applied art along with products manufactured in series, technological innovations and new applications of traditional methods and materials.

Pecha Kucha Night and Party at Design Week

The 8th October is the day for the special Pecha Kucha Night and the Party at the Museum of Applied Arts. What sushi is in gastronomy, or sumo in sports, Pecha Kucha is for architecture and design! Short, concise, cool. Pecha Kucha Nights are originated from Tokyo and are organised in two hundred cities worldwide, here architects, designers and artists introduce their work. The secret of the brief, focused and interesting presentations lies in the one and only rule of the night: presenters can show 20 pictures, each for 20 seconds.

Exclusive WAMP Design Fair in the Museum of Applied Arts

Exclusive WAMP Design Fair will come forward within the scope of Finn Fatale programs on 11th October in a special place, the Museum of Applied Arts. A wild range of Hungarian and Scandinavian design products, cool accessories and watches from Aron design store as well as from Hungarian designers will be presented.

WAMP – Design and Vintage

Wine is the best of beauties, tastes and flavors of autumn. WAMP will not change to wine festival but it will devote the first autumn fair to the most famous Hungarian fruit in order to trial the meeting of design and wine.
To complement the atmosphere of the regular design market with the stands of more than 90 Hungarian designers, we would like to evoke the atmosphere of vintage with wine tasting. Zsirai Winery will invite everyone for tasting delicious wine specialties. Moreover the Winery launched a label competition among designers, and the best 20 label designs will be exhibited in WAMP fair.

WAMP – ADVENTURE with Brazilian rhythm

The last wamp of the summer invites the visitors for a competition of journey.
KLM Dutch Airlines is celebrating its 90th year anniversary and therefore launched a special competition for designers and artists. 20 talented artists will present suitcases inspired by combination of journey, suitcase and cities. Feeling, impressions, and other pieces of art will be seen on the Wamp fair.

This season, Hungarian designers put their accent on New York Design Week. Experience the sensual approach of 17 emerging Hungarian designers and collectives as they showcase their newest products in animation, jewelry, fashion, textile, interior, and product design. All the objects in the exhibition are inspired by softness—of touch, shape, or concept. Selected items will be for sale!

WAMP - Street

WAMP appears twice in May: in the middle of the month WAMP will extend for a whole weekend. On the first day WAMP joins Exit Street Festival, where the focus of the festival is to introduce urban street trend through music, fashion and other performing art performances. On the second day of WAMP a grass flying carpet will arrive at the design market.

WAMP - Earth Day

WAMP appears one week after Easter to celebrate Earth Day on open air. The event will join other Earth Day happenings and will take place on the same day as the Critical Mass. Cycling and recycling will be the focus points of first spring design fair.

Bikes -just like dogs- are special friends of a modern urban person, and as such deserve special attention at the beginning of the season. April WAMP will therefore feature a special bike edition. Bike styling, bike consultancy as well as a great variety of bike accessories will be available.

Training for designers

WAMP in cooperation with SEED - Foundation for Development of Small Enterprises helps designers develop their own businesses by launching a joint training programme.
The training program will focus on improving their personal and professional enterpreneur skills.

WAMP appears on third Greenexpo exhibition and fair. The mission of the event is to make environmental protection popular and to show realization of environmental consciousness in alldays. An important objective of the exhibition is the connection between environment and design.

Woman’s day is a good excuse to leave everything behind and treat yourself to a new dress, or a new jewelry you have been longing for so long.
A new hairstyle and a new make-up, or some styling consultancy provided by our professionals is also a good idea to make your day! The show of the day will be the Hungarian perfumer Zsolt Zólyomi.

It is to see them from a personal angle and not only from the point of view of their products. The designer of the month in February is Benjamin A. Balla, graduating at the Faculty of Glass Design at MOME this year, also the winner of the Stílus-WAMP prize in October.

WAMP - Carnival: Costumes and masks

After having a break in January, WAMP has revived itself in the middle of the carnival season. Wearing costumes is still trendy in 2009, and so we asked Hungarian designers to make unique masks and carnival accessories for the WAMP fair this February.

If you have difficulties deciding whether to be an evil witch or an elf come to the fairy WAMP to get fabulous ideas from their creative designers. Also, the usual design items like clothing, jewelry, accessories, furniture, toys, ceramics and glassworks will be on display throughout the carnival fair.

Bread and Butter Barcelona: showcase of hippest designers

Lots of designers from the area of street and urban wear present their brands from the most famous ones to the undiscovered young ones on the Bread and Butter Barcelona aka BBB.

The international trade fair moved couple of years ago from its original city Berlin to Barcelona and WAMP’s beloved fashionevents appears on 21-23rd January in the Fira Barcelona Arena.

Hungary's "creative" ambassadors: Ernő Rubik and Áron Losonczi

European Commission hails 2009 as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.
The slogan of the communication campaign launched by Czech EU presidency: "Imagine. Create. Innovate."

More than 20 European ambassadors are nominated from different fields of creativity and innovation, specialists from microbiology, to dancers and even the head of Microsoft.
